George- your presentation is such a wonderful discussion of the nitty gritty of practice. Thank you. Attending to the details makes all of the difference- this can't be underscored enough.

LI/SJ/GB/H excess patients can often enjoy and rely upon their excess qualities and can get freaked out when they feel less "on" and will complain of fatigue after receiving a treatment that counterbalances their excess(es). I will warn them that they might feel unusually mellow, heavier, denser, duller, less motivated to act than usual.  I assure them that after a day or two of metabolizing the treatment what they are calling fatigue will ease.

I do keep in mind the possibility of individual responses to treatments. For those with weaker constitutions, I make sure needle retention is no longer than 30 minutes.

If all other signs are pointing to a beneficial treatment, and all other factors not withstanding, sometimes the body just needs to slow itself down to make big adjustments. I liken this to the fatigue of early pregnancy.

Thank you Kristin - it is always great to have your input and keen awareness.  I never thought about those heavier/inward supplementations contributing to more fatigue, but I can understand how now that you mentioned it.  I certainly find supplementing those counterbalances mellows folks out.   Better sleep, calmer.   I have not heard the "I was wiped out" much anymore.  If I look back on my Saam pre-school days the channel I most saw the fatigue with was supplementing LR+ when likely that was not the correct treatment.  I hope I am in first grade by now.

Yeah shorter retention times for sure.    I have been doing 20-minute treatments sometimes.  I give all my patients a bell if they need me for 'any reason' which includes feeling like they relaxed and the session is done.

Thank you for chiming in.
